MEET The Faculty
Rodney Ramey - Principle & 5th-8th Grade Teacher
Rodney Ramey was born in 1972 at White Memorial Hospital in California. Despite his West Coast birthplace, he considers himself a Southern boy at heart, as his formative years and family heritage are deeply rooted in the Southeast. He is a proud graduate of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee.
Mr. Ramey's personal interests reflect his love for the outdoors and creativity. He enjoys hiking, camping, and woodworking, finding satisfaction in making things with his hands. He also has a passion for acting and dreams of one day appearing in a feature-length film similar to "Facing the Giants."
With over twenty years of teaching experience, Mr. Ramey finds great joy in sharing knowledge with others. He is committed to teaching practical life skills to his students, but above all else, his greatest desire is for them to know Jesus as their personal Savior and friend.
Mrs. Skaggs - 1st-4th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Erin Skaggs grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina, initially registered as pre-law, she switched her focus and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology, as well as a teaching degree from the University of North Carolina, Asheville.
She pioneered the Kindergarten program at Captain Gilmer Elementary school in Fletcher, NC before she moved to Georgia with her husband in 1996. She taught in the Cherokee County School system for four years before she began teaching at J.E.C.S. She has taught in our lower-grade classroom since 2000. Since that first year here, she has taught all grade level combinations of Kindergarten through 4th grade, depending on the needs of the school in any particular year.
In her classroom, Jesus is most important. She finds teaching math and reading quite enjoyable, but teaching about Jesus is her favorite. She is married to Jeffrey and they have a dog named Reuben. She enjoys hiking (especially where her dog is welcome) and putting together Lego sets. Her greatest desire is to be able to sit at Jesus' feet with each one of the students she has taught throughout the years.
